Oak Creek fishing pier opens to public

The new fishing pier located near the new Oak Creek power generation units officially opened yesterday. The pier extends into Lake Michigan and is accessible on the north side of the discharge channel.

“Aside from being one of the cleanest coal-fueled power plants in the U.S., our new generating units can benefit those who enjoy good fishing on Lake Michigan. It’s a nice benefit to generating electricity in an environmentally friendly manner,” said Al Ciepluch, manager operations – power generation.

The pier is open during daylight hours, March 15 to Nov. 15, weather permitting. Although the pier is considered company property, the public also may access the adjacent public beach to the north.
